WWE World Heavyweight Title Tournament Competitors Revealed

WWE announced the twelve competitors that will be part of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament which begins tonight on RAW.

The tournament will feature two triple threat matches each on RAW, and Smackdown. The two winners of each triple threat on the shows will face each other the same night, with the winner of that match going on to face the final winner from the other show on WWE Nigh of Champions, and the winner of that match will be crowned the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

The tournament competitors will be Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Damian Priest, The Miz, Cody Rhodes, and Shinsuke Nakamura from RAW, and Edge, AJ Styles, Bobby Lashley, Austin Theory, Rey Mysterio, and Sheamus from Smackdown. 

Although the original announcement of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship mentioned that the title holder would be exclusive to the brand that Roman Reigns is not on, the announcement of the competitors does feature six Smackdown Superstars but did not mention if they would need to move to RAW, should they win the championship.

Bianca Belair Becomes Longest Reigning RAW Women’s Champion

After securing a victory at WWE Backlash on Saturday night, Bianca Belair became WWE’s longest reigning RAW Women’s Champion on Sunday at 399 days and counting as the champion.

The previous record holder for the RAW Women’s Championship was Becky Lynch, who held the title for 398 days.

Bianca Belair was drafted to Smackdown in the WWE Draft, and the Smackdown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley was drafted to RAW. It remains to be seen how WWE will handle the respective titles, and what that means for Belair’s current streak.

In 2021, a similar situation happened with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, and WWE opted to have a title swap between the two competitors.

Eddie Kingston to Undergo Surgery This Week

Eddie Kingston announced this week that he will undergo hernia surgery on Tuesday and expects to be back in action after 6 weeks.

Kingston, who says he has been dealing with the injury since September, has been out of action since late March.

New Day Inducted into Boys & Girls Club Hall of Fame

New Day members Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston were inducted into the Boys & Girls Club of America Alumni Hall of Fame last week.

Woods and Kingston have long been active with the foundation which provides kids with a fun, safe space for after school activities at locations across the United States.

In the press release announcing their induction, the Boys & Girls Club said “As leaders and role models, these honorees share a passion for helping the next generation of kids and teens achieve great futures. They also serve as key examples of what's possible when young people have access to high-quality youth development programs, like those found after-school and during the summer at a Boys & Girls Club."
