WGA Writers Strike Will Not Affect WWE

The Writer’s Guild of America approved a strike this week, halting production on many television series and movie productions.

WWE CEO Nick Khan addressed the strike during WWE’s 1st Quarter financial call and said that while WWE is “supportive of the writers who are members of the Guild, and their efforts," none of the WWE writers are part of the Union, and therefore the strike will have no effect on WWE television production.

Vice Media Group to File for Bankruptcy

Vice Media Group, the company behind Vice TV, the home of popular docuseries ‘Dark Side of the Ring’, is preparing to file for bankruptcy, according to the New York Times this week.

Vice had a value of 6 billion dollars, in 2017, but is now struggling to find a buyer with a price tag of 1 billion dollars, prompting the decision to file bankruptcy.

Vice is intending to continue operations as normal during the bankruptcy process.

AEW ‘Dark’, ‘Elevation’ Ending as ‘Collison’ Begins

AEW will end their YouTube series ‘AEW Dark’ and ‘AEW Dark: Elevation’, with the debut of their new Saturday programming ‘AEW Collision’, which is set to debut mid-June, according to The Wrestling Observer.

The Observer reports that, at least for the time being, the plan is to have all of AEW’s product to air exclusively on Warner Brothers Discovery networks, and a new deal between the two companies could be announced soon.

New WWE Rule Bans Talent from Sharing Injury Photos

WWE implemented a new rule recently stating that Superstars may no longer share photos of their injuries, or share photos showing any blood, according to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live.

Alvarez noted that while the company does not want photos showing injuries or blood being shared, or made as part of any merchandise, the company has begun featuring a shirt for Finn Balor that mentions the 14 staples he needed following a recent in-ring head injury.
