WWE 1st Quarter Financial Results Released

WWE released their 1st quarter financial report this week, noted by a few key highlights including:

  • Unique viewership records for both the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber premium live events.

  • RAW and Smackdown both increasing viewership by 7 percent, even though overall cable and broadcast television were down 15 and 6 percent respectively.

  • A 52 percent increase in North American live event ticket sales

  • WrestleMania setting numerous company records, such as being the highest grossing, most attended, and most viewed event in WWE history.

NXT Women’s Championship Vacated

With NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell being drafted to RAW this week during the WWE Draft, the champion announced the title will be vacated and a new champion will be named via a tournament beginning next week which culminates at NXT Battleground later this month.

FITE to Air LIVE MLW Events

Major League Wrestling CEO Court Bauer announced a new partnership with FITE TV to air live MLW events, beginning with MLW Never Say Never on July 8th.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bauer said the new partnership will see FITE TV air live MLW events each month moving forward.

Impact World Champion Named Veteran of the Day

Impact Wrestling World Champion Steve Maclin was named the Veteran of the Day, for May 2nd, by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

Maclin served in the Marine Corps. from 2007-2011, where he served two deployments in Afghanistan.

The VA cited Maclin's success in professional wrestling and also his charity work for Hire Our Heroes USA, which helps combat veterans find work in their post-military lives.

Sonya Deville Stalker Sentenced to Prison

Phillip Thomas II has been sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by 15 years of probation for the attempted kidnapping of WWE Superstar Sonya Deville, after pleading guilty to all four counts against him, including attempted kidnapping, aggravated stalking, and armed burglary.

In August 2020, Thomas broke into Deville’s home in Florida with a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, and mace intending to kidnap her.

Deville fled the house with then-WWE performer Mandy Rose, who was staying at her home, and called 911.
