Moné Injury Leads to Nightingale Title Victory

Willow Nightingale defeated Mercedes Moné at New Japan Resurgence this weekend in a tournament finals match to become the first New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Women's Champion.

It appears, however that this outcome was changed during the match when Moné suffered a lower leg injury that eventually required her being carried away from ringside.

Nightingale delivered a powerbomb to Moné and attempted a pinfall, but the referee stopped counting at two, even though Moné's shoulders were still pinned to the mat.

Nightingale delivered another powerbomb and pinfall, this time for a full three count, and Moné was assisted backstage while Nightingale celebrated with the championship.
