Endeavor Announces 1st Quarter Financial Results

Endeavor released its 1st quarter financial results yesterday.

Some of the highlights include a revenue of 1.6 billion dollars and a net income of 36.3 million dollars.

The report also spoke about the merger of Endeavor and WWE, made official last month. Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel noted how Endeavor is "excited about the unique opportunity" of the combination of UFC and WWE which currently have a combined estimated value of more than $21 billion. 

Endeavor is expecting its revenue for 2023 to be between 5.6 and 5.8 billion dollars.

Pat McAfee Show to Move to ESPN?

ESPN is the leading candidate to become the new host of The Pat McAfee show, according to the New York Post this week, despite ESPN being part of thousands of layoffs from their parent company Disney.

McAfee, in addition to his YouTube show and WWE appearances, has an existing working relationship with ESPN through his role on College GameDay.

McAfee’s YouTube show currently is in its 2nd year of a 4 year, 120-million-dollar deal with FanDuel, however McAfee has given indications of leaving, including removing the FanDuel logo from his show and not appearing in their Super Bowl ads.

New York to Deregulate Professional Wrestling?

The State of New York could potentially deregulate professional wrestling.

State Senator Timothy Kennedy introduced a bill in March that would remove some state athletic commission regulatory requirements that are more common to boxing and MMA than professional wrestling, though 20 states still continue to regulate pro wrestling in nearly the same way as those combat sports.

Such regulations include requiring promoters to put up a bond, carry insurance, and pay for a doctor, EMTs, and an ambulance on-site.

These cost-prohibitive requirements often cause New York independent wrestling promoters to run their shows in neighboring New Jersey instead of New York.

This bill would require the state athletic commission to review the need for regulation and licensing of professional wrestling," by November 1.

Judge Forces WWE Lawsuit to Arbitration

The judge in a recent fan-filed WWE lawsuit has ordered the case to arbitration.

Marvin Jackson claimed he suffered a near total hearing loss due to pyrotechnics at WrestleMania 38, and claimed he was not subject to the forced arbitration that WWE sought.

The judge ordered the case to arbitration by dismissing Jackson’s case with prejudice, which guarantees the case may not be filed again with that court.

Jackson is seeking over 1 million dollars for damages, expenses, and attorney fees.
