Iron Sheik Passes Away at 81

WWE Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik passed away at the age of 81, according to a tweet from the Sheik’s famous Twitter account yesterday that shared the news of his passing.

The tweet which discussed the life and career of The Sheik, began by saying, "Today, we gather with heavy hearts to bid farewell to a true legend, a force of nature, and an iconic figure who left an incredible mark on the world of professional wrestling. It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of The Iron Sheik, but we also take solace in knowing that he departed this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy that will endure for generations to come."

Thea Hail Breaks WWE Record, Chasing Another

NXT’s Thea Hail broke a WWE record this week when she won a battle royal to become the new Number 1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.

This makes Hail the youngest WWE Superstar in history to become a number one contender for any title in the company.

Hail now has the right to face Tiffany Stratton for the title, and if victorious, Hail could become the youngest NXT Women’s Champion in history at 19 years old.

The current record for youngest NXT Women’s Champion is Paige, who first held the title at the age of 20.

Blue Demon Jr. Partners with Movie Studios to Create Lucha Libre Universe

Blue Demon Jr is joining forces with Los Angeles based film company Moxie 88 to create a range of content based on the Mexican wrestling icon and Lucha Libre in general.

The partnership aims to reenergize the masked luchador sci-fi fantasy genre through a number of feature films and multi-platform media content, including a television show aimed at younger audiences, an animated TV series for children, scripted and non-scripted series, music, gaming, sprits, merchandise and an array of publishing projects.

Moxie 88 founders said ““Growing up in Mexico, the Blue Demon mask epitomized heroism and hope, deeply shaping our belief in the transformative power of storytelling and true superheroes”.

Stevie Richards Clear of Debilitating Spinal Infection

Stevie Richards is no longer battling a spinal infection that left him confined to a wheelchair recently.

Richards spoke with Wrestling Shoot Interviews this week and revealed that a recent CT scan shows he no longer is battling the infection that caused him extreme pain in his back and a rapidly declining ability to use his legs.

Richards, who was utilizing a walker and wheelchair to move during the infection battle, says while he no longer is battling the active infection, he still has some lingering effects he will need to work through, such as a lowered immunity and a rapid weight loss.

Richards, who is an avid fitness enthusiast, is happy to be able to return to his regular workout routines saying, “I’m pretty much able to do just about everything.”
